LMS ADVISORY #29 as of September 14, 2021 @ 2:45 PM - LMS service slowdown and downtime.

All teachers and students are advised that in cases of service downtime, slowdown or stoppage of the Open LMS, please shift to the e-learning mode from the o-learning mode as provided in the university’s Learning Continuity Plan. The e-learning mode is the contingency use of email, SMS, Messenger Group Chats, and even Zoom or Google Meet sessions outside of the Open LMS. Teachers are advised to include this advisory in their online classes and SIM-SDL manuals. All Deans are mandated to ensure that all your respective faculty members are properly oriented to the university’s Learning Continuity Plan.

Once the Open LMS is back to the normal service capacity, classes can shift back to o-learning from e-learning mode.

LMS ADVISORY #28 as of September 14, 2021 @ 2:30 PM - Management of uploaded materials in the LMS.

Due to the huge volume of users and materials uploaded in the Open LMS, we have been experiencing very heavy traffic during online classes, resulting in LMS clutter, storage exhaustion, service slowdown or downtime. Please be advised that teachers and students are discouraged from uploading video materials in the LMS; you may use the URL tool in the LMS and provide the link to your video files stored in the cloud, YouTube or other external storage applications. You may continue to upload flattened graphics only in Powerpoint or other images in PNG or JPG formats. However, very large graphic files are also not encouraged; please avoid posting very large image files in your online classes. Pure textual files in Word or Excel formats are not affected by this advisory.

LMS ADVISORY #24 as of January 30, 2021 @ 9:30PM - Reiteration of the New Grading System beginning SY 2020-2021

The new grading system effectively modified the LMS Advisory # 8 dated May 3, 2020 on MCQs and other formative assessments, specifically the provisions stipulated in items 1, 2 and 8. All other provisions in LMS Advisory #8 continue to take into effect. Likewise, the new grading system effectively nullified the LMS Advisory # 10 dated June 6, 2020 regarding the grading system as previously practiced.

LMS ADVISORY #17 as of August 18, 2020 @ 4:30PM - Hybrid Mode of Instructional Delivery for SY 2020-2021

Welcome to the new school year, SY 2020-2021, beginning August 17, 2020 to October 15, 2020. All semestral classes shall be conducted online via the Blackboard Open LMS as the primary instructional delivery platform. This is part of the university’s hybrid mode of instructional delivery making use of various blended modalities such as online learning (o-learning as primary); electronic learning (e-learning) using email, SMS or Group Chats; mobile learning (m-learning) using smartphones and other mobile data; broadcast learning (b-learning) through the University on the Air using radio broadcasting; correspondence learning (c-learning) or modular learning using courier/pick-up arrangements and the residential/F2F modality if allowed by quarantine conditions.

Starting this 1st semester, SY 2020-2021, all online classes shall be designated official time for synchronous sessions and official room in case of residential/F2F modality if allowed by quarantine conditions. All teachers are guided to follow the designated class time for synchronous sessions only; asynchronous sessions can be done anytime, anywhere depending on the pacing of the students and the learning activities of the teachers.

Students may validly complain if synchronous classes are conducted outside of the officially designated class time.

For the teachers/course facilitators, please be guided by the previous LMS Advisories #6 (Regulating Videoconferencing); #11 (Conducting Online Class Activities); #12 (Dealing with Inactive Students); and #13 (Making Online Classes Delightful) for the conduct of synchronous and asynchronous learning sessions.
